we arrived back in Dallas yesterday afternoon and boy did we have a good trip! on Thursday we landed in Albuquerque and drove to Santa Fe on the "Turquoise Trail" scenic hwy 14. The desert and mountains were beautiful. we arrived at our hotel, Hotel Santa Fe, that afternoon. It's the only Native American owned hotel in Santa Fe.
we took a short nap then got dressed for dinner which was at The Bull Ring. There we met many of our fellow Texans with the Texas Historical Foundation and had a great meal. They even had a vegetarian plate for me! This is me posing with my THF name badge after dinner.
Friday, all the members of THF, about 70 of us, boarded two charter buses and drove out to Glorieta to tour a private museum and learn about the Battle of Glorieta Pass. (New Mexicans and Texans have a long tumultuous history.)
After the museum we visited the Pecos National Historical Park.
At the park, there are still ruins of the ancient Pecos pueblo! Amazing!
After the park we all loaded back onto the bus and headed towards Frankie's to eat lunch.
i had the grilled veg sandwich. mmmm.
After lunch we drove back to Santa Fe to tour the New Mexico Museum of History. Most of us were wiped out by this time even Jon and I so we did a quickie through the museum and headed back to our hotel to take a nap! That night we had dinner at The Pink Adobe.
